Day 1

Today as our group embraced on this project we began to make paper designs of what our cannon may look like. We checked the relation between Pressure and Temperature, then the relation between Temperature and Volume, and last Volume and Pressure. There was also the research of finding the temperature of how hot we need the the flame to be.

INFORMATION

• Although first used in China, they eventually migrated over the world, mostly for the use of a weapon during wartime. Cannons are a large tubular-shape firearms that may use gunpowder to fire a heavy projectile over a certain distance of land.

• Ctesibius of Alexandria was a Greek inventor and mathematician located in Alexandria, Ptolemaic Egypt, that created a form of a committee operated by compressed air, before the time of 200 B.C.

• Eventually, the barrels of paper and bamboo were replaced with metal, and named the “Huo Tong” meaning fire-tube or gun.
